MAINSTREAM

-Words and Music by Jeff Brent

Music tailored to cater to popular taste
Well-reviewed, critiqued and praised

White, yellow, green, blue, purple, red, orange
Guaranteed not to clash with your furniture
Just loud enough to drown the noise of the fridge
No deposit no return in this great future

Playing it safe, never taking a chance
Never fly by the seat of your pants

Trends and fashion as our only guide
Jump on the bandwagon, it's free ride
Change the perfume for your ears
But still nobody really hears

MAINSTREAM
I'm drifting in MAINSTREAM
Never have to make a decision again
Let computers and survey percentages think for me
Never mind the violence on TV
Let it be? Why, Why can't we see?

MAINSTREAM
Sucked in like rip-tide I'm swirling whirling in MAINSTREAM
Mediocre to the max
And not complete without the trademark Sax

(solo)

You might ask me how long I feel this way
For 3 and one half minutes every day
Ssshh... Don't mention ecology
Only write songs to be happy and free
What me worry?

Am I playing for me?
Or am I playing for you?
Or am I playing to make a buck or two?
My Pappy told me
"A man's gotta do what he's gotta do"
"A man's gotta do what he's gotta do"

MAINSTREAM
I'm flotsam in MAINSTREAM
Never have to make a decision again
Let computers and survey percentages think for me
Never mind the violence on TV
Let it be? Why, Why can't we see?

And the cosmic comic sails away
Sunset waves goodbye the day
